Password and sign-in

Set, change or reset your HCode password, and how long a sign-in lasts.

Your HCode password lets you sign in directly at /auth/signin, without going through the HostAfrica client panel. You manage it on Personal account (/account), in the password card.

Set a password

If you have only ever opened HCode from the HostAfrica client panel, you have no HCode password yet. The dashboard shows "Set a password to sign in directly to HCode." until you set one.

  1. Click Set your password in that notice, or open /account. The card is titled Set your HCode password.
  2. Enter a New password of 8 to 128 characters.
  3. Enter it again in Confirm new password.
  4. Click Set password.

You then sign in with your client panel email address and this password. You need a password before you can turn on two-factor authentication.

Change your password

  1. On /account, in Change password, enter your Current password.
  2. Enter a New password of at least 8 characters and repeat it in Confirm new password.
  3. Click Update password.

Changing your password does not sign out your other sessions. To end them, use Sessions.

Reset a forgotten password

  1. On the sign-in page, choose "forgot password?".
  2. Enter your Email and click send reset link.
  3. Open the link in the email. HCode shows the same "Check your email" screen whether or not an account exists for the address, so if nothing arrives, check your spam folder and that you used the address your account was created with.
  4. On Set new password, enter a New password of at least 8 characters, repeat it in Confirm password and click update password.

HCode takes you back to the sign-in page. If the link is invalid or has expired, click Request a new link.

How long a sign-in lasts

A direct sign-in lasts 7 days and is extended while you keep using HCode, so you are signed out after 7 days without use. Click Sign out at the bottom of the sidebar to end the session on the device you are using; to end others, see Sessions.
