Organisations

Where organisations come from, how to switch between them, rename one, or leave one.

An organisation is the account your projects, databases, team and plan belong to. Each HCode service you order in the HostAfrica client panel is its own organisation.

Where organisations come from

When you order HCode in the HostAfrica client panel, HCode creates an organisation for that service, makes your client panel account its owner and applies the plan you ordered. A second service creates a second organisation with its own plan, projects and team.

You can't create or delete an organisation from the dashboard. To add one, order another HCode service. You can also belong to other people's organisations by accepting their invites.

Switch organisation

The dashboard works in one organisation at a time; its name is at the top of the sidebar with the plan underneath.

  1. Click Switch organisation under the organisation name. It only appears when you belong to more than one.
  2. Pick an organisation. The list shows your role in each, and a search box once you have more than five.

If you have unsaved changes, HCode asks "Discard unsaved changes and switch organisation?" first. HCode remembers the organisation you last used and lists it first, as "Last used", the next time you sign in.

A session opened from the HostAfrica client panel stays in that service's organisation and can't switch. Sign in with your email and password to reach your other organisations.

Rename an organisation

Owners and admins can change the name and slug.

  1. Go to Members in the sidebar.
  2. Under Organisation details, click Edit details.
  3. Change the Name (up to 100 characters) or the Slug (3 to 40 lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens, not starting or ending with a hyphen).
  4. Click Save changes.

A slug must be unique across HCode. If it is taken, HCode says "Organization slug already in use".

Leave an organisation

Admins, members and viewers can leave an organisation.

  1. Go to Members in the sidebar.
  2. Under Organisation details, click Leave organisation.
  3. Click Leave to confirm.

You lose access to the organisation and its projects, and any API keys and integration access you created for it stop working. HCode then opens your other organisation, asks you to choose if you have several, or says "You're not in an organisation yet" if you have none.

The owner can't leave. To hand the organisation to someone else, contact support; see The owner.

Suspended and closed organisations

If an organisation is suspended or closed, choosing it opens a status page instead of the dashboard. See Suspended organisations.
