Your profile holds your name, your email address and your GitHub connection. Open it from your name at the bottom of the sidebar, or the avatar at the top right; both go to Personal account at /account.
Change your display name
- Edit Display name.
- Click Save changes.
Your name is shown to your team on the Members page.
In a session opened from the HostAfrica client panel, the name field is read-only and the page says "You opened HCode from your HostAfrica client panel, so your name can't be changed here. Sign in to HCode with your email and password to change it." The GitHub Disconnect button is hidden in that session too. Sign in directly with your HCode password to do either.
Change your email address
The Email address field is read-only. To change it, contact support at [email protected]. Your email address is also what you sign in with, and where password resets and two-factor email codes are sent.
GitHub
Under Connected accounts, HCode shows whether GitHub is connected. HCode deploys repositories through its GitHub app, so connecting means installing that app on GitHub and then letting HCode confirm the installation.
| What the card shows | What to do |
|---|---|
| "not connected" | Click install app to install the HCode app on GitHub in a new tab, then come back and click verify connection. |
| The GitHub accounts the app is installed on and how many repositories are available | Nothing. Click Verify to re-check, or configure to change which repositories the app can reach on GitHub. |
| "needs reconnecting" | Click Reconnect GitHub. If GitHub shows nothing to connect, install the app on GitHub first. |
Reconnecting also re-links projects whose GitHub installation had stopped working, so their deploys can fetch code again. See Deploy from GitHub for choosing repositories and automatic builds.
Disconnect GitHub
Click Disconnect. HCode forgets your GitHub authorisation and the app installations you connected. Projects in organisations you own that were linked through those installations lose their GitHub link until you connect again. The app stays installed on GitHub; remove it there if you no longer want it.
Connection messages
If the GitHub flow sends you back with a problem, the card shows a message. The common ones:
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| "We couldn't verify this GitHub installation yet." | Click verify connection (or Reconnect GitHub) so GitHub can confirm which installations are yours. |
| "GitHub shows no installation of the app for your account yet." | Install the app on GitHub, then verify. |
| "This GitHub installation is already connected to another account." | Another HCode account owns that installation. Contact support if it should be yours. |
| "GitHub authorization was cancelled." | You declined on GitHub. Start again when ready. |
| "GitHub is busy, try again in a minute." | Nothing changed. Try again shortly. |
| "That GitHub connection link has expired or was already used." | Start connecting again from the account page. |
