Delete a project

Delete a project for good, and what is removed with it.

Deleting a project removes the app, its databases and its domains for good. It cannot be undone, and HCode has no way to bring a deleted project or its data back.

Only an owner or admin can delete a project. Anyone else gets "Only an owner or admin can delete a project. Ask one of them to do it."

Before you delete

Export anything you want to keep from the project's databases first. Deleting the project deletes every database in it along with its data.

If you only want the app offline, stop it instead. A stopped project keeps its settings, databases and domains, and doesn't count toward your plan's memory.

Delete the project

  1. Open the project and go to Settings.
  2. In the Danger zone section, click Delete project.
  3. Type the project's name exactly as shown.
  4. Click Delete project in the dialog.

The dashboard takes you back to your projects list and the project is gone from it straight away. HCode finishes removing everything in the background.

What is removed

  • The app.
  • The generated address and every custom domain, which stop serving.
  • Every database in the project, with its data.
  • The deployment history, settings and environment variables.

The DNS records you created at your own DNS provider for custom domains stay there; remove them yourself.

If the delete is refused

A refused delete changes nothing, and the project stays in your list.

Message What to do
"A restore, import or move is running on one of this project's databases. Try again when it finishes." Wait for the restore or import to finish, then delete again.
"This project is already being deleted." Nothing; the earlier delete is still running.
"Something is still running on this project. Try again when it finishes." Wait a minute and delete again.
"Nothing was deleted. Try again in a moment." Try again. If it keeps failing, email [email protected].
